This is the #11600 Freight Set that Lionel made in 1968 and referred to in its catalog of that year as "the greatest train set of all times." This Set includes the #2029 Diecast Steam Engine with the "Made in Japan" Trailing Truck, the #234W Whistle Tender, the #6014 White Frisco Reefer, the #6476 Yellow Lehigh Valley Hopper, the #6315 Lionel Lines Unpainted Chemical Tank Car, the #6560 Operating Crane Car with the Dark Blue Base and the #6130 ATSF Work Caboose with the Unpainted & Unlettered Frame. The Set also includes the #1044 90 Watt Transformer, 027 Track, the Black #260 Bumper and a Remote-Control Switch Track. Our Opinion is that the Set is generally in Like New Condition, minor if any signs of use and age, but a few axles have the usual oxidation from this period. The Set Box is in (8+/9-) Condition and include the difficult Inserts and Paperwork (including the Special Set Instruction Sheet) (also included, but not pictured, the unstamped Box for the Engine).
