This is the #2296W Canadian Passenger Set that Lionel made in 1957. This Set includes the #2373 Canadian Pacific F-3 AA Diesels with Dual Motors, Magnetraction and Horn, the #2551 Blanff Park Observation, the #2552 Skyline 500 Vista Dome, the #2553 Blair Manor Pullman and the #2554 Craig Manor Pullman. As we stated in our Book on Lionel Post-War Trains, Volume III, Catalogued Sets (Second Edition), "[t]he Canadian Pacific passenger set was catalogued with three Vista Domes, but the 2553 and 2554 Pullmans are listed . . .soley for the reason that this outfit caused a well-known instance of component switching. Many collectors balked at the lack of variety offered in the passenger cars and obted for an alternative, which was to switch two Vista Domes for the separate-sale Pullmans." Our Opinion is that the Set is generally in Excellent to Exclelent Plus Condition, very clean but has minor wear due to age and handling. Minor wear on the Diesel's Decals. The Original Set Box is in (7) Condition with a reattached small top flap. The Engine Boxes are in (8+/9-) Condition. The Boxes for the 2551 and 2552 are in (8+) Condition, the 2553 Box is in (8) Condition and the 2554 Box is in (7) Condition with a missing end flap and a repaired end flap.
