This is the #199 Scenic Railroad that Lionel made for Standard Gauge in the middle 1920s (the Shipping Crate actually refers to it as a "189 Table" although the "8" could possibly be read as a "9"). This is the largest of the Lionel Standard Gauge displays; it was featured in the back of the 1924-1928 Lionel Catalogs, and is "THE" ultimate example of a Standard Gauge display. We were told by a knowledgable collector that ONLY 3 complete displays with the Sky Panels are known to exist. This was sold by Lionel to Dealers, and intended for display in their store-front windows to increase train sales. This Display would have included a #124 Station, a #189 Villa, three #191 Villas, three #184 Bungalows, a #092 Signal Tower, five #60 Telegraph Posts, two #59 Lamp Posts, three #58 Lamp Posts, one #57 Lamp Post, one #89 Flag Pole, one #66 Semaphore, one #78 Automatic Control, one #77 Crossing Gate, one #69 Warning Signal, one #120 Tunnel, one #136 Large Elevation, one #131 Corner Elevation, one #132 Corner Grass Plot, two #133 Heartshape Grass Plots, two #135 Circular Grass Plots, the #507 Combo Board Platforms (three sections), three #509 Combo Board Sky Backgrounds, one #508 Compo Board (2 sections), sixteen #505 Trees and eight #504 Bushes. Included in this Lot is what you see in the pictures, mainly all the platforms and backdrops as well as the smaller add-on scenery pieces (missing some trees and bushes). The Houses and Accessories would have been packed in a separate box, which we do not have; however, they can be found in the marketplace. What we do have is in Excellent Condition, generally no signs of use but some dust and dirt from the ages. A few backdrops have some spotting on their rear and one has a corner that does have wear. The Entire Layout will clean up in Condition. Measures approx. 49" x 91." All the backdrops have their legs and the Platforms all have their labels where the Accessories would be placed. This is probably a once in a lifetime opportunity to own this "Premier" Standard Gauge Display. What is even better is that it has the Original Shipping Crate into which everything fits. The Crate has the label from Lionel but is missing the top lid. All Original in our Opinion. Please add $300.00 for US-48 Shipping & Insurance (we can make arrangements for Pickup, or Delivery in Pennsylvania, for a lesser fee). FOR ADDITIONAL PICTURES OF THIS LOT, PLEASE CLICK HERE. |
