This is the #3454 Operating Merchandise Car that Lionel made around 1946. This is the Very Rare RED (rather than Blue) Lettering Variation. As we noted in our Book, Guide to Lionel Trains, Volume V: Rare and Unusual, the Red-Lettered #3454 was a very early and very limited production run. Our Opinion is that this item is in Fair Condition, with some problems. However, some work would result in having one of the less than ten Red-Lettered #3454 examples that are known to us. The principal problem is that all four of the screwholes inside the cab are blown, and the catwalk is broken on one end and "dinged" on the other.. The Door Guides also need to be reinstalled on the cab, and the remains of one broken door rivet needs to be removed from an upper rivet hole. A bit of a project, but well worth the effort. No Box. All Original in our Opinion. Please add $20.00 for US-48 Shipping and Insurance. |
