This is the #700E Diecast Scale Hudson Steam Engine and Diecast New York Central Whistle Tender that Lionel made in the late 1930s and early 1940s in Scale O Gauge. Lionel sold the 700K as a kit which the individual would put together and then paint with a brush with the enclosed black paint. Has three oil holes. As such, this item has been properly hand-painted and is neverthless considered as such original. However the Tender's Body on these Kits had a tendency to decay so this piece has a Madison Hardware Repaint of an Original Lionel Shell, while the rest of the Tender's Trim (the coal pile, the frame, the trucks, etc.) are Original. Our Opinion is that the Engine and Tender are in Excellent Condition, with the casting of the Engine being very straight and strong. No Boxes. Otherwise All Original in our Opinion.
