This is the #11311 Freight Set that Lionel made in 1963. The Catalogued Version of this Set is pictured on Page 158 of our Guide to Lionel Trains, Volume III: Catalogued Sets, 2nd Edition. On rare occasions, Lionel offered Blister Packaging to their retail dealers for display purposes to promote the sale of "low-end" or "starter" sets. Approximately a dozen different Blister Sets are known by us to exist; this is the first example we have ever seen of set #11311 in Blister Packaging. This particular Blister was displayed in a Window and as such the Trains in the Plastic melted. The Cardboard Background is in (8) Condition, very clean and solid (we have the original staples that held it to its backing). We also have the Yellow/White Backing for each Blister other than for the Track. Amazingly, the CTC Blister somehow survived and is in great condition. We know someone who could recreate the proper Blisters to their original forms out of new plastic for about $500. We are also including replacement components (except track and transformer) that would have been in the Blisters; unfortunately, the 1062 engine has a broken cow-catcher and should be replaced. With some work, you could own a Rare Blister Set that is All Original except for the actual Blisters. All Original in our Opinion. Please add $30.00 for US-48 Shipping and Insurance. |
