Scarce Lionel #3103W 1946 Uncataloged Set/OBs

This is the #3103W Freight Set that Lionel made in 1946. This was their first uncatalogued Post-War Set, and was generally available only from the original Madison Hardware, located on 23rd Street in New York City. A Very Scarce Set. This Set includes the #224 Diecast Steam Engine, the #2466W Whistle Tender, the #2454 Baby Ruth Box Car, the #2452X Pennsylvania Gondola, the #3559 Coal Dump Car and the #2457 Red Pennsylvania N5C Caboose. This Set should also include a #1042 Transformer but it is not included in this lot. Rarely seen in the Marketplace. We only know of three of these sets to be available over the past five years. Our Opinion is that the Set is generally in Like New Minus Condition, very minor signs of use and age, extremely bright paint. The exception is the #3559 Coal Dump Car, which has wear and dirt inside the Red Bin. We will at some point send a nice 3559 Bin to the winning bidder. The Set Box is in (7+) to (8-) Condition, some old tape but fairly firm. The Interior Boxes generally range from (8) to (9) Condition, some far better than expected, with all appropriate inserts. All Interior Boxes are SF-1 No Logo Boxes. The exception as to condition is again the #3559 Box, which is in (8-/7+) Condition, some wear and tape. All Original in our Opinion. Please add $30.00 for US-48 Shipping and Insurance.
