This is the #2254W Pennsylvania Congressional Set that Lionel made in 1955. This Set includes the #2340-1 Tuscan Five Stripe GG-1 with Dual Motors, Magnetraction and Horn, the #2541 Alexander Hamilton Observation; the #2542 Betsy Ross Vista Dome, the #2543 William Penn Pullman and the #2544 Molly Pitcher Pullman. Our Opinion is that the Set is generally in Like New/Like New Minus Condition. The Engine has strong stripes in the middle but some slight weakness along the ends that are probably more from how the factory applied the stripes than any signs of use. The Set Box is in (8) Condition. The Engine Box is in (9-) Condition, nice but has incorrect "-25" written on both ends and has its Insert. The Interior Boxes are in (9) Condition, very firm. (Please note that the Interior Boxes are what we refer to as 56+/Late Classic Boxes, which normally are referred to as being from 1956 and onwards. However, given the number of 1955 Set Boxes that we have viewed in our 40+ years in this hobby, and the substantially fewer 55- Type Boxes for the Congressional Passenger Cars that we have viewed during this period, we believe the 56+ Boxes actually were produced for Lionel in the last few months of 1955 and that at least half of the 1955 Congressional Sets produced by Lionel included 56+ Interior Boxes). All Original in our Opinion. Please add $50.00 for US-48 Shipping and Insurance. |
